So my makeup journey began in April/May of 2008. I had owned a few gift with purchase palettes from Estee Lauder and Clinique (it's all my mom would wear - now she's totally addicted to MAC - go Mom!) but never enough to truly need storage. One Christmas my
mother gave me an Estee Lauder case that was a gift-with but it will filled with all the basics. I still have it to this day. I should probably sell it or toss it! lolOnce I realized how much fun buying makeup really was, I had to upgrade because searching over and over moving things
around and it took forever to find the makeup I wanted to use. So I bought not 1,but 2 of these little storage bins from Target. The ones I bought are purple with pink knobs. So very ME! For those containers I paid approximately $8/piece. For the one in the picture you can (if you are lucky) find them at the drugstore or even Wal*Mart for around $4/$5 each. However a SHORT period of time passed and I was STILL having issues with finding different items. Move this; pull out that; it was a PAIN. So before makeup
I was into scrapbooking. Boy oh boy was I into it. I put so much money into the stickers and papers, markers, books, beads, doo dads and how-zee-what's-its and goggi-woogies. So I packed up my scrapbooking stuff and reorganied my makeup to fit into that storage container. I bought it at Wal*Mart or Target and paid approximately $24-$30.
This storage unit worked but I realized I needed trays to keep the makeup organized inside of the Sterlite containers. So I hit the Dollar Tree and bought a bunch of these containers
that were sold in 3-packs. The quality of the containers from the dollar store is exactly that - dollar store - some break and I find I have to replace them sooner, but who care's right?? Then around back to school time you can also find them in a variety of colors to add some flare. At Target and Wal*Mart you can find them in sets of 3 for less than $5 but beware - you will need quite a few - so I recommend DOLLAR STORE :)So that became too cluttered and I decided to online shop. What I found was heaven. Gorgeous colors, great drawers space. Room to grow. What more could I want?

Click on the picture above to go to the online store I purchased this from. The problem with this item is that it's pricey. Yes, that is correct I paid $149 and shipping is high.
I saw it as an investment.
It comes in a million pieces but is super easy to put together. It's so easy to assemble a cave man could do it! lol You can choose this colorful one or you could get a clear one but I don't know where the link is to that one lol! I just moved my small containers into this one and viola - perfect organization. Of course you can find smaller verisions of this type of storage in places like Office Max, Office Depot, Staples, etc but I was sold on the cute craftiness of it.
Just recently I decided I needed to reorganize this container and I bought a nail polish
. Again, I searched high and low and looked everywhere I could to make sure I got the best deal. I found a 90 bottle wall-mounting rack at this site for a very good price. Again, just click on the picture and scroll down till you find 90 Bottles Display (AWM-90) for $32.95. Shipping was lightning fast and all I had to do was put for anchors in the wall and with a drill screw in the screws.PERFECTION!
So as of right now those are the two units of storage I have. Now that I'm getting into soaps and such thanks to amazing places like Suds-n-Sass and Lush (thanks a lot Shay and Toni for the new addiction!) I need to come up with more storage for that. I am just addicted to everything I touch it seems!
QUESTIONS:
- What do YOU use for storage? Do your best to post a pic and attach link in comment or describe what you use.
- How much is too much? Do you think women across the planet need to stop when their makeup collections get to be this big? Should we sell it all and purge or keep adding tothe pile?
